Private beta terms

Test carefully.
Drive attentively.

These terms describe Realist Inc.'s limited, pre-release MileMute beta. Applying to the waitlist is not enrollment. An invited participant must separately accept the current terms before installing or testing a beta build.

Version private-beta-2026-08-21Effective August 21, 2026Operator Realist Inc., Ontario, CanadaContact Secure beta form
Non-negotiable safety rules
  • Never configure, test, or troubleshoot while driving.
  • Keep attention on the road and obey applicable law.
  • Protection can start late, end early, fail, or be disabled.
  • Emergency calling and safe recovery must remain available.
  • Report any stuck lock or essential-access defect immediately after parking.

1. Beta status and eligibility

The beta is a voluntary, no-charge evaluation of unfinished software. Features may change, stop working, or be withdrawn. Participation is limited to people invited by Realist Inc. who use a supported device and vehicle setup. The intended driver must be a licensed or learning driver age 16 or older. A parent or legal guardian must participate and consent where the driver is a minor or applicable law requires it.

2. What the product does—and does not do

MileMute is a supplemental phone-distraction guardrail. It attempts to shield or close selected nonessential apps after a configured vehicle signal is detected, while keeping essential system and emergency functions available. It does not control the vehicle, identify the driver's seat reliably, prevent every phone interaction, detect a crash, guarantee legal compliance, prevent injury or collision, or replace attentive driving.

On iPhone, Screen Time permission and correctly configured personal automations are required; an adult can revoke individual authorization. On Android, required permissions and the disclosed Accessibility service can be disabled or the app uninstalled. The app reports the protection level it can actually provide and must not be treated as impossible to bypass.

3. Safe testing duties

  • Complete setup, app selection, permission changes, and parked tests while safely parked.
  • Use a passenger to observe behavior during any controlled vehicle test.
  • Do not attempt to open blocked apps, inspect logs, or reproduce a failure while driving.
  • Confirm that navigation, Phone/Emergency SOS, and the documented recovery path work before a live trip.
  • Stop testing and notify Realist Inc. after parking if protection becomes stuck, essential access is affected, or behavior seems unsafe.

If immediate help is required, contact 911 or the applicable local emergency service. The support form is not monitored as an emergency channel.

4. Feedback and privacy

Participants are asked to report missed starts, false starts, end delays, overrides, permission problems, and general usability feedback. Do not submit routes, destinations, message or call content, contacts, URLs, credentials, health details, or other unrelated sensitive information.

The current self-managed app stores its completed-trip summaries locally and has no app-networking path. Waitlist and support information are handled as described in the privacy notice. Family sharing is not enabled in the current mobile build and requires a separate notice and consent before any account, readiness, or trip-summary information is transmitted.

A participant permits Realist Inc. to use submitted feedback to evaluate and improve the product, without identifying the participant in public materials unless separate written permission is given.

5. Pre-release software and account security

Participants must use only the invitation and installation method provided to them, keep beta links and credentials private, install reasonable operating-system security updates, and not reverse engineer, resell, redistribute, or use the beta to interfere with another person's device. Realist Inc. may suspend a build, revoke access, or require removal to address a safety, privacy, security, platform-policy, or operational concern.

6. Duration, withdrawal, and deletion

The initial test is expected to last 30 days unless the invitation says otherwise. A participant may stop at any time by uninstalling the app and contacting support. Local app data can be cleared through the app or operating-system controls. Requests for access, correction, deletion, or consent withdrawal can be made through the secure privacy form. Withdrawal does not affect processing already lawfully completed and may end features that require the withdrawn consent.

7. Important legal limits

The beta is provided for evaluation and may contain defects. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Realist Inc. does not promise uninterrupted operation, fitness for a particular purpose, or a specific safety outcome. Nothing in these terms excludes a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, and these terms do not transfer the driver's legal responsibility to operate attentively. Device, mobile-data, vehicle, insurance, and ordinary driving costs remain the participant's responsibility unless Realist Inc. agrees otherwise in writing.

8. Changes and acceptance record

Realist Inc. will identify the version accepted by each enrolled participant. A material change to safety behavior, information sharing, or these terms requires a new notice and acceptance before it applies. The acceptance record should contain the participant, guardian when required, terms version, privacy version, timestamp, and invitation/build identifier—never a route or communication record.

This private-beta version is an operational draft pending legal review and Realist Inc.'s registered mailing address. It must be finalized before public enrollment or paid service.
